Overview

KDMS (Khordee Meesuk) is Thailand's first hospital dedicated exclusively to bone and joint conditions. It opened in 2022, founded by orthopaedic surgeons and rehabilitation doctors, and reports treating more than 120,000 patients in its first four years. It is located on Soi Sukonthasawad 38, Lat Phrao, Bangkok.

Its credential is specialisation rather than international accreditation: every department in the building exists for musculoskeletal care. For a knee replacement patient that means the surgeons, theatres, nursing and rehabilitation teams all work on bone and joint cases as their entire workload.

The hospital performs the surgery. Medidash Global handles everything around it: the surgeon assessment from your own X-rays, a fixed written quote with inclusions and exclusions stated, visa and travel guidance, airport transfers, hotel near the hospital, an English-speaking coordinator with you in Bangkok, and follow-up coordination once you are home. The hospital does not provide these. There is no extra cost to you for arranging your treatment through us.

The orthopaedic department

The hospital covers six orthopaedic sub-specialties according to its centre listing: knee and hip, spine, sports medicine, hand and wrist, foot and ankle, and shoulder. Robotic-arm-assisted knee and hip replacement is part of its published package programme, and its packages use Stryker implant components from the United States, which the hospital publishes in its package terms.

An on-site rehabilitation team, including physical and occupational therapy centres, runs the physiotherapy that starts the day after surgery. The hospital states its treatment protocol from diagnosis through recovery was developed jointly by surgeons and rehabilitation physicians.

We do not name surgeons on this site. At assessment you will know who is operating before you commit, and you can ask for their experience with your procedure, their annual volume and their own revision rate.

KDMS is the only one of our three partners that publishes its package contents: a standard inpatient room for 5 days and 4 nights for one knee (6 days and 5 nights for both sides), nursing services, hospital services, meals and medical equipment charges used for patient care.

Its published terms are also honest about limits, and so are we: the package applies to patients without complicating conditions. Patients classed ASA III or above, or whose surgery is more complex or longer than standard operating time, fall outside package pricing. A package price assumes a straightforward case. Full exclusions are on the cost page.

Steven Parker's knee replacement at KDMS

Steven Parker arrived in Bangkok in July 2026 in severe pain. Years of osteoarthritis in his right knee had left him struggling to walk more than a few steps, and back home in the UK a long NHS waiting list offered no end in sight.

After finding Medidash Global online he got in touch and heard back the same day. Within days everything was arranged: the hospital, the surgeon, the hotel and the airport transfers. Alex, the founder of Medidash Global, met Steven at Bangkok airport and stayed with him through the whole process.

On 14 July 2026 Steven had a total knee replacement at KDMS. The surgery went to plan. He recovered at his hotel with daily check-ins and guided physiotherapy at the hospital.

At his follow-up appointment on 17 August, around four and a half weeks after surgery, Steven was walking noticeably better. He filmed a message for anyone still sitting on a waiting list at home.

"Don't wait. Time is precious."

Steven has given written consent for his name, story, photographs and video to be shared. One patient's progress at four weeks is his own, not a typical or promised outcome; recovery timelines vary and full recovery takes several months or longer.

Location and getting there

KDMS is at 9 Soi Sukonthasawad 38, Lat Phrao, Bangkok 10230, alongside the Ekkamai to Ram Intra expressway, north-east of central Bangkok. Airport transfers from Suvarnabhumi are part of Medidash Global's coordination, and accommodation is booked near the hospital, so the distance from the tourist centre is not something you need to manage.

International patient support

Medidash Global provides an English-speaking coordinator with you in Bangkok, from airport arrival through consultations, surgery day, recovery check-ins and departure. Interpretation and liaison between you and the clinical team is part of that role, alongside the hospital's own patient services.

Who KDMS is right for, and who it is not

Right for: patients who want an orthopaedic specialist hospital rather than a general one, the lowest knee entry price of our three partners (283,000 THB with the implant included), or robotic surgery at the lower of the two robotic price points.

Not right for: patients with significant other medical conditions who may need a multispecialty hospital, and anyone for whom international accreditation is the deciding factor. If that is you, look at Bumrungrad or Phyathai 2, and we will say the same at assessment.

The procedure detail is on the total knee replacement and robotic-assisted knee replacement pages, and the full clinical picture is in the complete guide.

FAQ

Which hospital is right for me?

That comes out of assessment rather than a price list. KDMS is an orthopaedic specialist hospital with the lowest knee entry price. Phyathai 2 offers the bilateral package. Bumrungrad is the largest and most internationally established, at the highest price point. Your medical history and what you want from the trip decide it.

How many nights will I be in hospital?

At KDMS, the published knee package covers five days and four nights in a standard inpatient room for one knee, or six days and five nights for both. Phyathai 2 and Bumrungrad do not publish their inpatient stay, so your written quote will state it. Nights beyond the package are billed separately.

Will I know who my surgeon is before I travel?

Yes. Your assessment is carried out by the orthopaedic team at your chosen hospital, and you will know who is operating before you commit. You can ask for the surgeon's experience with your specific procedure, their annual volume, and their own revision rate.

Is language a problem?

The partner hospitals run international patient services, and Medidash Global provides an English-speaking coordinator with you in Bangkok. Translation and coordination between you and the clinical team is part of what we handle, so you are not managing it alone in a second language while recovering.
