Overview
Phyathai 2 is a large multispecialty hospital on Phaholyothin Road in central Bangkok, established in 1987, with 550 inpatient beds. It has held Joint Commission International accreditation since 2014 and Thai Hospital Accreditation, which the hospital states it has held continuously since 1997. It is part of the BDMS hospital network.
For knee replacement it is our mid-priced option, and the only one of the three partners offering a bilateral package: both knees in one operation, one trip.
The hospital performs the surgery. Medidash Global handles everything around it: the surgeon assessment from your own X-rays, a fixed written quote with inclusions and exclusions stated, visa and travel guidance, airport transfers, hotel near the hospital, an English-speaking coordinator with you in Bangkok, and follow-up coordination once you are home. The orthopaedic department
The hospital operates a dedicated orthopaedic institute within its 27 specialist centres, according to its own materials, with advanced imaging and a hybrid operating theatre. As a large multispecialty hospital it carries broad supporting departments, which matters most for bigger operations: cardiology, internal medicine and intensive care sit in the same building as the orthopaedic theatres.
That breadth is the reason the bilateral package lives here. Replacing both knees in one operation is a bigger physiological load than a single knee, and candidacy is assessed strictly, including cardiac fitness.

Location and getting there
Phyathai 2 is at 943 Phaholyothin Road in the Phaya Thai district of central Bangkok, close to BTS Sanam Pao and near Victory Monument. Airport transfers from Suvarnabhumi and accommodation near the hospital are part of Medidash Global's coordination.

How much is a bilateral knee replacement, both knees?
The Phyathai 2 bilateral package is 680,000 THB for both knees (approx. AUD 27,200, GBP 13,600, USD 20,400), with the implants included. Doing both sides in one operation costs less than two separate procedures because theatre time, anaesthesia and most of the hospital stay are shared, but it is a bigger operation and not everyone is a candidate.
Can I choose my own hospital?
Yes. We recommend based on your assessment, your case and your budget, but the choice is yours. If you want a quote from more than one of the three, ask and we will get them.
How many nights will I be in hospital?
At KDMS, the published knee package covers five days and four nights in a standard inpatient room for one knee, or six days and five nights for both. Phyathai 2 and Bumrungrad do not publish their inpatient stay, so your written quote will state it. Nights beyond the package are billed separately.
Is language a problem?
The partner hospitals run international patient services, and Medidash Global provides an English-speaking coordinator with you in Bangkok. Translation and coordination between you and the clinical team is part of what we handle, so you are not managing it alone in a second language while recovering.
